Thurber Monument shown below, has inscriptions on four sides.
1. The northwest side has John W. Thurber, Mary Ann Warren, and John Herbert Thurber.
2. The northeast side has William Hines and Lovicy Perham.
3. The southeast side has Franklin E. Bennett and Janette P. Thurber.
4. The southwest side has Amos Thurber and Lestina Levina Hines.

The following list of Thurbers is taken from the "Official History of Guilford, VT 1678-1961" Published by the Town of Guilford and Broad Brook Grange No. 151 on the occasion of the Town's Bicentennial 1961. The book contains this dedication:

A life-long resident of Guilford who, while he was Town Clerk (1904-1915), devoted much time and effort to copying early records. By his diligent research he collected a vast amount of material which has been of great assistance in the preparation of this book.
